Match Report:
After a draw against each other in our previous league match, both teams were looking to better the result. The Tors started brightest out of the two teams with a well worked move resulting to Tyrese Tucker playing a well-weighted through ball to Layton Windsor who slotted past the onrushing keeper in a one-on-one situation. Tormarton later added a second. Ellis Baker whipped in a well-placed free kick looking for Mitch Gooding in the six-yard box. Mitch was unable to make contact with the ball but was enough of a threat for the marking defender to put the ball in his own net. After the second goal Tormarton got complacent and switched off. Sea Mills took advantage of this with a quick corner passed to a player on the edge of the box, who drilled the ball into the bottom left corner. Tors keeper Dave Ball rendered helpless as it came through a sea of bodies. Sea Mills second goal came from a corner. A well-delivered cross into the box was meet by a Sea Mills player who rose above everyone else and headed into the net with force. At 2-2 it was game on. The fifth goal of the game went to Sea Mills as they took the lead for the first time during the game. A through ball with a well-timed run from their winger resulted in him behind the Tors defence and through one-on-one with Dave Ball. Despite Dave's best efforts the opposition scored. Conceding was the encouragement that the lads needed. Tyrese Tucker was battling hard and started a move for Tormarton. The ball was played to Layton Windsor who played a low-cross across the six-yard box for Tobi Parsons to finish the move with a left-footed finish past the keeper. After six goals the first half drew to a close.
The second half was a battle for both teams. A late challenge on Tobi Parsons resulted in a free kick on the edge of the box. Layton Windsor picked up the ball to take the free kick. In an unorthodox free kick routine, which was definitely not practised on the training ground, saw Charlie Ross lie in front of the defending wall. Layton took a driven low free kick. This deflects off of Charlie and went past the keeper into the net. Tormarton tried their hardest to hold onto the lead for the first win of the season but after lots of defending and some great saves by Dave Ball, unfortunately Sea Mills were able to bundle a fourth goal into net.
A fair result in the end for both teams in a well battled match. We would like to thank Sea Mills Park for their hospitality and thank their committee member who stepped up to referee the game who had a good game and officiated fairly.
