Match Report:

Tormarton come into this game after a well deserved point against Seymour United and a great training session on Monday night. The Tors looked lively and had a few attacks early on. We took an early lead from a corner. Ellis Baker delivered the ball to the back post with perfect weight to find the head of Charlie Ross who did well to lose his man and have an unchallenged header towards goal.

With the score at 1-0, Andy Long produced a top-save save to deny Lawrence Weston and equaliser. Diving down to his left to push the ball out for a corner. The tors continued attacking and looked more in control. We further added to our lead when Layton Windsor was played in down the right wing, under pressure from the defender drove a low-cross across the box to be met by an onrushing Tyrese Tucker who calmly slotted the ball in the left side of the goal.

There was more joy to come for Tormarton. After an intricate move, Layton Windsor was played in. He took the ball round the keeper on a one-on-one, going to his right. As he was taking his shot, the defender fouled him. With the ball being cleared of the line, a penalty was awarded. Layton made no mistakes with his second chance and dispatched the ball in to the bottom right corner with a one-step penalty. Tormarton defended well and dominated the first half.

The second half proved tougher for the boys. Playing uphill against a team that weren't going to give up easily. In the second half it was a much more even game. The tors pushed up the field and multiple shots blocked before the ball bounced up to Tobie who took a touch and finished into the bottom right hand corner to make the score 4-0.

The tors entered a shaky period we were on the back foot. Lawrence Weston picked up the pace and unleashed a barrage of attacks on our defensive line. The managed to bring the score back to 4-3 and made it an uncomfortable game for the tors. With Layton Windsor pulling up, Ellis Baker stepped up. Going back onto the field upfront. A few minutes after coming on he scored a crucial goal for the Tors at the right time to relieve the pressure that we have been under. Callum Furnival on the left wing, chipped the ball towards Ellis who was at least 25 yards out with his back to goal. Ellis was optimistic and attempted a full right-footed swivel volley. It came off, beating the keeper to nestle in the bottom right-hand corner. A truly brilliant goal to cap off the scoring for the Tors and give us a much needed win.

Ellis Baker
For the second week in a row, Ellis has picked up the Man of the Match award. Ellis scored a crucial goal and got an assist. He could have had a few more assists with the Tors coming close with chances. Brilliant game from Ellis day with a brilliant finish for the goal.

Charlie gregory (Player):

"Well done to every single person involved today, from Longy in net to Schollick turning up to support. The performance in that first half and the character to weather that second half storm was incredible - especially not going to their level after they decided to try and kick us out the game. Onwards and upwards from here to the end of the season now, UTT"

Charlie Ross (Captain):

"Lads can’t tell you how big of a 3 points that is for us! We’ve shown last 3 weeks that the teams in top half of the table are always there for the taking if we turn up right!

Everyone battled well and we have to carry the momentum with us! Enjoy the beer tonight it will taste much better with 3pts! UTT"
